Alessandro was truly a terrific trainer for us and our dear rescue Luna 🐶! We got her from the shelter but had some issues with pulling on her leash and going crazy on her walks. We were also experiencing a family loss and didn’t have the time personally to invest in the training she needed so we decided to do puppy boot camp for 4 weeks. Alessandro put so much time and effort into her training and it made a world of difference! She’s perfect at her walks now and is so obedient, which is essential because we have little ones and older folks that she must be careful around. Plus he helped train us so we could be the kind of owners that would be able to set Luna up for success going forward. Our Ronan was a lovable pup, but very territorial with some leash aggression. We contacted Allessandro and State of Mind Canine for some in home training. I am amazed at the transformation in behavior we are experiencing with Ronan. Walking him now is so enjoyable. I no longer have to have my head on a swivel looking out for others walking their dogs and hurrying to avoid them. Ronan is so well behaved that other dog owners have commented about this change.
I no longer have to worry about any aggressive behavior with regards to resource guarding or being territorial. Allessandro is wonderful with the training of Ronan and us! Watching him interact not only with our pup but with the dogs he brings along to assist in the training made us feel confident that this was the right choice for us.

My wife and I signed our 2 year old Lab ‘Cali’ up for the on leash bootcamp. The training took 3 weeks to complete and the results were great! It was hard living without our pup for so long but it was worth the wait. Cali has always been a great dog and is very smart, but now she has the discipline and skills for us to bring her more places. This training package is worth the investment!
We also use State of Mind Canine for boarding Cali when we go out of town so she gets the structure and play time with someone we can trust!

I can write a novel about my AMAZING experience with Alessandro at State of Mind Canine. My girlfriend and I have a Pit-bull who USED TO drag us on walks, lunge at other dogs, and have no obedience what so ever. When I first had the thought of hiring a dog trainer I was skeptical at first on whether my dog will respond to any of the training. The patience and dedication Alessandro has with our dog is second to none. Our pit-bull was gone for just over 5 weeks and came home a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT DOG!! We couldn’t believe some of the behaviors she’s learned throughout the State of Mind Canine program. Alessandro even went the extra mile and had a few training sessions with my girlfriend and I so we can understand how to continue the practices our dog learned while at State of Mind Canine. Man oh man where do we start? Luffy was a mess. We were so stressed because luffy was so much for us and didn’t know where to start. We had an incident where luffy bit a dog that entered our yard
This caused our neighbors to complain and we were so overwhelmed and knew we needed professional help or animal control was going to come knocking at our door. After googling we found Alessandro and called that same day. He came in the next day and assessed our situation
He was so great with our dog. We so surprised how quickly luffy was responding to him
So he went to training. Admits his boarding time with Alessandro, my brother (luffys owner) suffered from heart failure. Alessandro provided us with some time to set our home up. We knew luffy was in great hands and getting the best training. Luffy is finally home and so well behaved
He listens, doesn’t pull, doesn’t bark any is so much more behaved. We trust him with our dogs

It’s tough to say all that can be said about Alessandro and what he did for Harley. Harley was a stray that we adopted as a rescue. She is a Belgian Malinois estimated to be about 2 years old and had significant behavioral challenges from the beginning. Alessandro had her for 5 weeks in the off leash bootcamp and when she completed the course, she was transformed from a nervous, aggressive, anxiety producing pet to a well-behaved family member.
As you know, training is a journey. Alessandro established a very strong foundation and then spent time with us to be able to reinforce what she had learned. Going well beyond what we expected, Alessandro spent hours with us helping us understand the how’s and why’s of training a dog so that we can continue to improve on what she learned. He is absolutely a dog whisperer, and we are so thankful for what he taught Harley and us. ❤️🐾

Alessandro truly is a dog whisperer! We sent our 8 month old Vizsla to him for obedience school for a few weeks and he came back a completely different dog! Niko was always jumping and play biting new people, not obeying any rules, and was a nightmare to walk. Very high energy dog with very little regard for what we wanted. Alessandro took Niko and taught him excellent behavior skills. He learned skills such as sit, place, come, follow, down, and how to walk nicely on a leash (among others). But Alessandro didn’t stop there, after he was done with the dog he worked with our family on how we could improve in our engagement with Niko to help him respond positively to our commands and rules. Both Niko and our family benefited greatly from this excellent experience that Alessandro brings to the table. We give him our highest recommendation.

Alessandro has been a tremendous help with our dog Poppy. He really helps explain dog behavior in a way that makes sense. His bootcamp is an amazing jumpstart to get the dog in the right mindset and trained, and Alessandro does a fantastic job afterwards to teach the owners how to keep the training going especially since the circumstances at home may need additional adjustments to keep the dog well-behaved. Not only that, but Alessandro keeps contact with you so if issues arrive later, he can make house visits to correct the situation and he sends photos and videos so you know what to look for. All in all, I cannot recommend State of Mind Canine more for all training and boarding needs.

After my wife and I adopted out 7 year old lab/shepherd mix, Rusty, we discovered he had certain behavioral issues. He suffered separation anxiety, scavenging aggression, and was very difficult to walk. Not to mention his health issues he came with from his previous owners. After trying to resolve these issues with online guides and what knowledge I have, we were talking about what we could do. The question of returning came up, but I wanted to give him one more shot, but also knew I needed professional help. It wasn’t long before I found State of Mind Canine, and Alessandro. After reading some information on the site something felt right. So I called and was very surprised on how easy and willing Alessandro was with meeting us and Rusty.
Everything went extremely well on that first visit. Rusty was responsive and Alessandro even gave us some pointers before we even talked about any of his programs. At first I was certain we needed the more intensive and more expensive, in home training to get over Rusty’s issues, but again, Alessandro surprised me by recommending the cheaper private home lessons. Any other business would have tried to upsell and go for the more costly program, but this just proved to me, that Alessandro is truly dedicated to animals and not about the money. Even working with us on a payment plan as even the cheaper option I could not afford all at once.
Over the next few months Alessandro continued to impress with his knowledge and ability to explain where we as owners were making mistakes with Rusty. He responded between sessions whenever we had questions or concerns, and was more excited than we were whenever Rusty showed progress.
Now it’s been almost a year since our training ended, and Rusty is very much the best dog I’ve ever had. We still use the lessons Alessandro gave us and even message him from time to time, to show him just how far Rusty has come. There’s none of his aggression and he’s even walking without a leash!
Finally, all I can say is Alessandro, and State of Mind Canine, truly care about helping dogs. If you need help with a troubled rescue, or just puppy behavior, you couldn’t find a better person and friend than him.

Alessandro is a wonder of a trainer. My 10 month old smooth collie pup would jump,cry, bark and go manic upon seeing another animal. I live in a condominium complex where every walk we will encounter several dogs. With just one 45 minute lesson, Alessandro was able to get her completely under control. All I can say is wow about Alex! We are experienced dog owners and the puppy was our 4th dog my wife and I have owned. We were really having a tough time with our puppy’s behavior and overall lack of obedience. We did a ton of research on trainers in the area and thank goodness we found Alex. As new dog owners we relied on Alex, the owner of State of Mind Canine to guide us through the process of house breaking Luna and training her to be the well behaved spunky little girl she is today. She stayed with Alex and his dogs during puppy “boot-camp” and she would have been happy to stay. Alessandro is a very calm person, we brought a puppy home in October who was out of our control which brought a lot of anxiety into our home. Alessandro was terrific with our young rescue dog, Sebastian. He helped us with pulling while walking as well as barking and anxiety issues.
Alessandro loves dogs and it shows in every thing he does. His own rescue dogs are perfect examples of his training skills and how he can turn around any behavior issues. We boarded our dog for his training and he bonded both with Alessandro and the other dogs as well. The changes were dramatic after just two weeks and our dog is great in any situation now and much more relaxed and comfortable around dogs whenever he interacts with them.
Alessandro ‘s responsiveness, follow through and follow up are terrific and our only regret is that we wish we had found him sooner!
